Taipei, Taiwan – July 2, 2025 — The Taiwan government has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 Urban Resilience (Air-Defense) Exercise, set to take place from July 15 to July 18, covering all regions of the main island and its outlying territories. This year’s nationwide air-defense drill aims to enhance regional readiness, strengthen the civil defense system, and increase public awareness in case of potential aerial threats.
The exercise will feature simulated air-raid scenarios and civil evacuation protocols guided by police officers and civil defense authorities. Residents are urged to strictly follow instructions once the air-defense sirens or emergency cellphone alerts are activated.

📣 What to Expect During the Drill

Warning Sounds: Sirens will signal the start of the drill using a high-pitched tone lasting 15 seconds, followed by 5 seconds of silence, repeated three times (a total of 115 seconds).

Evacuation Procedure: All residents must stop outdoor activities, follow law enforcement instructions, and proceed to nearby shelters or safe indoor areas. Civil authorities will guide civilians away from open spaces to ensure simulated safety.

End of Drill Signal: A single 90-second long siren will signal the end of the drill.
⚠️ Legal Reminder
Authorities stress that the air-defense drill is mandatory. Any individual who violates the drill protocols or refuses to cooperate may be fined between NT$30,000 and NT$150,000, in accordance with the Civil Defense Act.
The government encourages everyone to participate seriously, as these simulations are designed not only to test public readiness but also to ensure swift and coordinated action in the face of real emergencies.
