Several local government units have announced the suspension of classes on Monday, July 28, due to inclement weather caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat) intensified by Tropical Depression Emong (international name: Co-may). Some areas, including Quezon City, have also declared class suspensions in preparation for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Here is the updated list of areas where classes are suspended:
National Capital Region (NCR)

Malabon City: Suspension of all face-to-face classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School, including Alternative Learning System (ALS) in public schools.
Ilocos Region

La Union: Suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels (public and private); college-level classes to proceed asynchronously.

Government offices in the towns of Mangaldan and Lingayen, Pangasinan are also suspended for the day.
Local authorities advise residents to stay updated with weather bulletins and follow safety protocols. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continues to monitor Tropical Depression Emong and its effects on the southwest monsoon.
