Taichung City, September 16, 2025 — A brutal stabbing shocked residents of Shalu District this morning after a young woman was killed near Zhongzhen Road.
According to initial police reports, a man and a woman were seen arguing beside a drainage canal in the Sakura Tunnel area of Zhongzhen community. The altercation escalated when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman multiple times. Authorities confirmed that the victim sustained 11 stab wounds, primarily in the chest and abdomen, and died at the scene.
The victim, believed to be in her early 20s and a college freshman from Dajia, had recently moved to Shalu to live with her grandmother. Witnesses reported hearing her cries for help during the attack, but despite her pleas, the suspect continued stabbing before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Investigators revealed that the suspect, a man in his 30s, has a record involving drug abuse and debt collection. Rumors circulating in the community suggest that the killing may have stemmed from relationship issues, but police have not confirmed this.
You Qiming, head of the Qingshui Police Station investigation team, stated that the victim’s identity has been preliminarily verified and evidence from the crime scene has been secured. Authorities assured the public that a manhunt is underway and the suspect will be apprehended soon.
