MANILA, Philippines — A major change is coming for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to digitize and streamline government transactions, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has officially launched the OFW Travel Pass, replacing the long-used Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).
The newly introduced OFW Travel Pass will serve as a digital documentation and exit pass for all OFWs departing the country. This innovation eliminates the need for paper-based processing and long lines at government offices, making deployment and travel procedures more convenient.
To use the new system, OFWs simply need to download the eGOV PH app on their mobile phones via the Play Store, register their information, and follow the step-by-step verification process. Once approved, the OFW Travel Pass will act as their official clearance for overseas employment, accessible anytime through their mobile device.
The DMW emphasized that this transition aims to simplify procedures, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in processing OFW documents. By adopting digital systems, the agency hopes to provide a smoother, faster, and more practical experience for Filipino migrant workers worldwide.
This initiative marks another milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize public service and enhance support for OFWs — the country’s modern-day heroes.
