DOST Monitors Two Weather Systems Outside PAR, One Likely to Become Tropical Depression

MANILA — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has reported that it is closely monitoring a Low Pressure Area (LPA) currently located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

According to DOST weather specialists, while the LPA has not yet entered PAR, it may influence the country’s weather in the coming days, prompting continuous surveillance by meteorological agencies.

In addition, another LPA, which is a remnant of the former Tropical Depression Danas, remains outside PAR. However, DOST noted that the likelihood of this system redeveloping into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is low.

Although both systems are still far from directly affecting the country, DOST emphasized the importance of staying informed and vigilant, especially for those in coastal and low-lying areas. Local government units and residents in these regions are advised to be on alert for possible rains or weather disturbances that may arise as the systems progress.

The agency also reminded the public to rely only on official updates and not to panic, stressing that accurate and timely information is crucial for proper preparation and response.

Further advisories will be issued as more data becomes available in the next monitoring period.
