Drunk Man Attacks Colleague with Knife in New Taipei City, Injures Police During Arrest

A heated workplace conflict turned violent in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City, after a 45-year-old man, surnamed Lin, attacked a colleague with a utility knife. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday, leaving the victim wounded and sparking a swift police response.

According to authorities, Lin and the victim, a male coworker surnamed Zhu, both work at a gas station on Zhonghua Road. The two reportedly had ongoing tensions due to frequent arguments, with Lin allegedly growing increasingly frustrated over Zhu’s behavior at work.

After consuming alcohol, Lin’s anger escalated. He went to the gas station carrying a utility knife and, without warning, struck Zhu in the head and hands. Zhu collapsed to the ground, bleeding heavily from multiple wounds, while Lin fled the scene.

Emergency services were immediately called, and Zhu was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is currently stable.

Police launched a manhunt and used surveillance footage to trace Lin’s location. Officers found him on Zhonggang Road, but when they attempted to arrest him, Lin resisted violently and caused minor injuries to one officer.

Following questioning, Lin was placed under custody and is now facing charges of physical assault and obstruction of law enforcement.

Authorities are continuing their investigation while reminding the public to seek proper channels for resolving disputes to avoid similar violent incidents.
