Gas Leak at Micron Memory’s Houli Plant Sends Workers to Hospital

Taichung, Taiwan – August 28, 2025
An unidentified gas leak at Micron Memory Taiwan’s Houli facility this afternoon left several workers ill, with four requiring immediate hospitalization.

According to the Taichung City Fire Department, the incident was reported at 3:25 p.m., prompting the deployment of seven fire trucks and 18 firefighters from the Fifth Brigade and Houli Detachment. Upon arrival at around 3:35 p.m., emergency responders confirmed a white gaseous substance had escaped near Checkpoint No. 6 inside the factory, located on Sanfeng Road, Houli District.

Authorities said that the leak, believed to be waste gas released during the production process, caused four workers to vomit after inhalation. They were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for treatment, while eight other employees went to medical facilities on their own for precautionary care.

By 4:29 p.m., Micron’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) had contained the leak. Fire personnel remained on-site to provide additional safety support and ensure no further exposure risk.

Medical reports confirmed that all affected workers were conscious but experiencing vomiting symptoms. Two women, aged 60 and 65, were taken to Wuqi Tong General Hospital, while two men, both 28 years old, were admitted to Dajia Guangtian Hospital.

As of now, Micron has not released an official statement regarding the cause of the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
