House of Representatives Vows to Comply with Supreme Court Request on VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Case

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has confirmed that it will comply with the Supreme Court’s request for documents related to the impeachment case filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

House Spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante stated that the chamber will submit additional sworn information in connection with the impeachment complaint. This development follows the House’s receipt of the Supreme Court’s letter on July 8, requesting relevant documents regarding the case.

The request stems from a petition filed by Vice President Duterte’s camp, which questions the constitutionality and legality of the current impeachment proceedings, particularly those in the Senate.

Abante added that the matter has already been referred to the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG), which will represent the House in the case. She assured the public that the House will coordinate closely with the OSG to ensure the timely and complete submission of all requested documents.

In a resolution released by the Supreme Court, both the House and the Senate were ordered to submit records pertaining to the impeachment process.

Vice President Sara Duterte is facing impeachment on multiple grounds, including the alleged misuse of ₱125 million in confidential funds, which were reportedly spent within just 11 days in December 2022.
