TAICHUNG, TAIWAN – A fortunate lottery player in Taiwan has struck it rich, taking home a total of NT$1.753 billion (approx. US$60 million) in Super Lotto winnings after purchasing a ticket worth only NT$800.
The winning numbers were drawn on Thursday, and a single winner claimed the NT$1.738 billion jackpot, according to local media reports. The lucky ticket was bought at a lottery outlet located on Minsheng Road in Taichung’s West District.
Records from the Taiwan Lottery system revealed that the player opted to manually select part of the numbers in Zone 1, while the rest were generated by the computer. For Zone 2, the player used a full combination of eight numbers, which boosted the chances of securing additional prizes.
This strategic move did not just win the jackpot—it also earned the player seven second-tier prizes, each worth NT$2.14 million, bringing the total windfall to an astounding NT$1.753 billion.
In a separate announcement, Taiwan Lottery shared that its Grand Lottery promotion, launched for the Dragon Boat Festival on May 20, still has seven unclaimed NT$1 million prizes out of the original 100 special bonuses.
Each Grand Lottery ticket offers two chances to win, and the jackpot for Friday night is projected to climb to NT$230 million.
