Magnitude 5.2 Quake Jolts Eastern Taiwan

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook the waters off Hualien County in eastern Taiwan at 2:03 p.m. Sunday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) reported.

The quake’s epicenter was situated in the sea, approximately 25.3 kilometers south-southwest of the Hualien County Hall, with a depth of 15.3 kilometers, according to CWA data.

No immediate damage or casualties were reported following the tremor.

The highest intensity level recorded was 4 on Taiwan’s seven-tier intensity scale, observed in the villages of Yanliao and Dowmung in Hualien.
