Taiwan (8/10/2025) – Penghu County police are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly fired a BB gun into the air following a heated dispute in Magong City on Sunday morning.
The Magong Police Station said it received a report at 9:40 a.m. of a confrontation in an open parking lot in Shiquanli. Witnesses told officers that a young man driving a white car argued with another person before raising what appeared to be a firearm and discharging it into the air. The altercation was captured on mobile phone video by bystanders and forwarded to police.
When officers arrived, the suspect had fled, leaving his car behind. Police set up surveillance near the vehicle and later saw a 22-year-old man surnamed Chen approach. Upon questioning, he identified the shooter as another man, also surnamed Chen, aged 20. The younger Chen was reportedly armed with a BB gun during the dispute.
Authorities pursued the suspect by vehicle and eventually contacted him, at which point he surrendered an air pistol, a BB magazine, and a box of plastic pellets. He told police that the altercation stemmed from personal animosity between him and the other party in the parking lot.
