Kaohsiung City, Sept. 9, 2025 — A man was discovered dead inside the restroom of a McDonald’s branch in Nanzi District on Tuesday morning, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
According to police reports, staff noticed that one of the stalls in the men’s restroom had been locked for an unusually long time. After repeated knocking yielded no response, an employee used a coin to unlock the door. Inside, they found a man collapsed on the floor. Emergency services were immediately called, but paramedics confirmed that the individual had already been deceased for some time.
The deceased was later identified as a 48-year-old man surnamed Lin, an employee of a contractor working on the nearby TSMC plant construction project. Investigators noted that there were no signs of struggle and no external injuries on the body. However, a used needle was found behind the toilet, raising questions about the circumstances of his death.
The Qiaotou District Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the case and ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Lin’s family has been notified.
Police emphasized that, at this stage, foul play is not suspected, but the investigation remains ongoing pending forensic results.
