Motorcycle Stolen in Taoyuan After Owner Forgets Key in Ignition

A motorcycle was stolen yesterday afternoon in Zhongli District, Taoyuan, after its owner mistakenly left the key in the ignition outside a construction site along Section 2 of Yuanguang Road.

According to the Zhongli Police Precinct, the incident occurred at around 2:14 p.m. when a man wearing a blue shirt was caught on surveillance cameras loitering near the parked scooter. After ensuring no one was watching, the suspect quickly mounted the motorcycle and drove away.

The victim later shared details of the incident on the Facebook group “I’m from Zhongli”, explaining that he had returned from lunch, parked his scooter at the site, and forgot to remove the key before entering the premises. Moments later, the vehicle was stolen.

Police investigators have since obtained surveillance footage clearly showing the suspect’s actions. Dalun Police Station deputy director Wang Taihao confirmed that the report was officially filed and that authorities are working to confirm the suspect’s identity.

Once located, the suspect will be summoned for questioning and may face charges of theft in accordance with the law.
