Taipei City, August 25, 2025 – Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident on the Nanhu Bridge in Taipei’s Neihu District late Monday afternoon.
According to authorities, a 19-year-old man surnamed Wang was riding a motorcycle with a 20-year-old passenger, identified as Ms. Zhou, when the vehicle rear-ended a multi-taxi driven by a 57-year-old man, also surnamed Wang. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. as the taxi was turning onto a sidewalk along Section 3 of Kangning Road.
The impact caused the motorcycle to topple and burst into flames. Responding firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
Medical personnel reported that the rider sustained second-degree burns on both legs, covering about 12% of his body, while Ms. Zhou suffered cuts to her forehead, lips, right arm, and right knee. Both were conscious when transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.
Police confirmed that neither driver had been drinking. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident to establish liability and prevent similar accidents on the busy bridge.
