Vice President Sara Z. Duterte expressed her gratitude and resolve on Tuesday following the Supreme Court’s ruling declaring the fourth impeachment complaint filed against her as unconstitutional.
In a public statement dated July 30, Duterte thanked her legal defense team for standing by her during what she described as a time when few were willing to support her. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Defense Team for taking on my case, even when no one else was willing to stand by me,” she said.
She also acknowledged the petitioners of G.R. No. 278359, who successfully questioned the legitimacy of the impeachment proceedings initiated by the House of Representatives. Duterte praised them for their “conviction to challenge the abuses” and thanked those who stood in dissent “against persecution,” citing their courage as a personal source of strength.
Addressing the Filipino public, she extended her appreciation to families and supporters who offered prayers during the legal battle. “To the parents, children, and silent supporters who offered their prayers for justice — thank you. Your quiet faith lifts me up,” Duterte stated.
She concluded with a powerful call for unity and integrity in leadership:
“Our country deserves better, and we shall stand tall, strong, and resilient against leaders whose greed will bring down our homeland. We deserve better.”
Her closing remarks echoed a patriotic message, urging love for the country and faith in God, the nation, and the Filipino family:
“Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas — para sa Diyos, bayan at bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Daghang salamat.”
The Supreme Court’s decision has effectively blocked the latest attempt to remove the Vice President from office, dealing a significant blow to her political critics.
