July 23, 2025 – Manila, Philippines — In response to the widespread heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat), the Office of the Vice President (OVP) extended its “Libreng Sakay” program until 10:00 PM yesterday, July 22, to aid stranded commuters in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
The emergency extension aimed to support the public amid disrupted transportation services and flooded roads in several parts of the country. The OVP deployed buses across key routes to provide free and safe transportation to affected passengers.
Here were the active routes under the extended service:
-
✅ 2 buses operating on the EDSA Carousel (Monumento – PITX route)
-
✅ 2 buses on the Quiapo – Commonwealth route
-
✅ 1 bus servicing the PITX – Naic, Cavite route
The OVP reminded the public to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone or slippery areas, and to stay prepared as adverse weather conditions persist.
This initiative is part of the OVP’s ongoing efforts to ensure public welfare during times of calamity and severe weather disruptions.
