Gov’t Officials Visit Ailing OFWs in Dubai, Extend Aid and Reassurance
August 3, 2025
DUBAI, UAE — In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that the needs of every Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) are addressed—especially those in vulnerable situations—top officials from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) personally visited four OFWs currently confined in hospitals due to serious medical conditions.
OWWA Administrator PY Caunan, Deputy Administrator for Operations Rosalia Susana S. Bahia-Catapang, DMW Undersecretaries Jainal Rasul Jr. and Dominique Rubia-Tutay, and Assistant Secretary Venecio Legaspi led the visit to Rashid Hospital and NMC Specialty Hospital in Dubai to personally check on the welfare of the ailing OFWs.
In addition to the support provided by OWWA and DMW, the team also handed over additional financial assistance from President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos—a gesture underscoring their concern and compassion for Filipino workers abroad.
The visit aimed not only to provide aid but also to bring hope, understanding, and a listening ear to the OFWs and their families. Welfare Officers Judith Santos and Esperanza Cobarrubias of OWWA-Dubai continue to coordinate closely with the hospitals and the families to ensure the patients’ recovery and arrange their repatriation back to the Philippines.
This initiative reinforces the administration’s commitment to ensuring that no OFW is left behind, especially in times of great need.
