July 30, 2025 | Malabon City, Philippines
In the aftermath of consecutive typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) demonstrated its unwavering commitment to overseas Filipino workers and their families by distributing calamity assistance packages to 350 beneficiaries in Barangay San Agustin, Malabon City on July 29.
The aid distribution was part of the “LAB For All” program spearheaded by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who personally greeted and stood in solidarity with affected OFW families. Her presence reflected the administration’s continuing dedication to supporting those impacted by natural calamities.
Livelihood Support for Returning OFWs
In addition to the calamity aid, five OFWs also received livelihood assistance packages under OWWA’s Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program, a reintegration initiative aimed at helping repatriated OFWs rebuild their lives through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Present during the activity were OWWA Administrator PY Caunan, Deputy Administrator Ryan Uy, and NCR Regional Director Ma. Teresa Capa, alongside key officials from OWWA’s National Capital Region Office.
Hot Meals and Heartfelt Service
True to its mission of delivering “Serbisyong May Puso,” OWWA also set up a Soup Kitchen on-site, serving free hot meals to OFWs and their families. This simple gesture provided not just nourishment, but also comfort and compassion to those recovering from the devastation of the recent storms.
Continuing the Bagong Pilipinas Advocacy
Under the banner of “Bagong Pilipinas,” OWWA continues to uphold its advocacy of caring for OFWs—not just during times of opportunity, but especially in moments of crisis. The agency reaffirmed its promise to deliver responsive and heartfelt services to the overseas Filipino community, no matter the storm.
“Sa ilalim ng Bagong Pilipinas, patuloy ang #OWWA sa pagtupad ng pangakong #SerbisyongMayPuso para sa kapakanan ng bawat OFW at kanilang pamilya, sa gitna man ng unos o sa pag-usad ng bagong simula,” the agency emphasized.
