Power Outage Hits 1,558 Households in Changhua as Typhoon Danas Approaches

Changhua County, Taiwan — As Typhoon Danas gradually approaches Taiwan, a heavy thunderstorm in Shengang Township, Changhua County triggered a power outage on Friday evening, affecting over 1,500 households in Shigu Village and surrounding areas.

According to the Changhua District Business Office of Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), the outage occurred at approximately 6:53 p.m. when a feeder line tripped during the storm. The affected areas included Quancuo Road, Zhongshan Road, Shigu Road, and other parts of Shengang Township, leaving a total of 1,558 households without electricity.

Taipower immediately dispatched emergency repair crews. By 7:50 p.m., power had been restored to 288 households. Repair efforts for the remaining affected homes are ongoing as technicians continue to assess and fix damaged lines.

Taipower also reported that sporadic power outages have been noted in other parts of Changhua County, and crews have been sent to restore electricity in those areas as well.

The Central Weather Administration has warned that the outer bands of Typhoon Danas may bring continued heavy rainfall and strong winds, which could increase the risk of further disruptions. Residents are advised to stay indoors, charge essential devices, and follow updates from local authorities for safety instructions and restoration schedules.
