MANILA — Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has denied allegations made by Vice President Sara Duterte linking him to questionable flood control projects and alleged kickbacks from illegal gambling.
In an official statement released on Monday, September 29, 2025, Romualdez dismissed the accusations as baseless, stressing that no evidence has been presented against him.
“I have heard the accusations. Let me say this directly: it is not true that I am receiving money from illegal gambling,” Romualdez declared.
He also brushed aside claims about alleged “suitcases of cash,” calling them fabricated stories. “These stories are pure fiction. All imagination. It’s easy to point fingers, easy to invent — but the truth cannot be proven. Until today, no evidence has been shown — only repeated hearsay,” he added.
Romualdez further clarified that he has no involvement in the reported Okada/Delaware issue, saying he is neither under investigation nor accused in any related case.
The lawmaker criticized Vice President Duterte, saying it was ironic that she, who was impeached over alleged misuse of funds, is now the one spreading “lies” to damage his reputation.
