At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers from the Minquan Police Station under the Second Precinct spotted a silver sedan driving without headlights near the intersection of Chenggong Road and Chikan Street. Upon stopping the vehicle for a routine inspection, officers observed what appeared to be illegal items inside the car.
The driver, identified by his surname Chen, was immediately detained after officers discovered over 100 grams of suspected methamphetamine and five unauthorized air guns inside the vehicle.
Despite being informed of his legal rights, Chen resisted the arrest and loudly accused the officers of using force, shouting “The police are beating people!” His commotion stirred several nearby residents, who, after learning the facts, urged him to calm down and lower his voice.
Deputy Director Chen Kezhi of the Minquan Police Station confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the police followed proper procedures during the operation.
“Our officers noticed a suspicious vehicle and followed standard inspection protocols. Illegal drugs and air guns were found inside the car, and the suspect was arrested in accordance with the law,” Chen said.
The suspect was later turned over to the Tainan District Prosecutor’s Office and is facing charges under the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and the Firearms, Ammunition, and Knives Control Act. Authorities are continuing their investigation to trace the origin of the seized drugs and weapons.
