Taipei Launches Free Automotive Repair Training to Address Industry Labor Shortage

August 6, 2025 — Taipei City – The Taipei City Vocational Development Institute is set to open a new professional training course focused on automotive body repair and painting, beginning October 1.

The intensive program, which runs until December 31, aims to provide participants with practical, hands-on training to prepare them for immediate entry into the workforce. Classes will be held on weekdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:05 p.m.

According to the Taipei City Department of Labor, the course is ideal for individuals with no previous experience in the automotive sector. It covers essential techniques such as metal panel restoration, spray painting, and custom graphic design for vehicles.

Labor Department Director Wang Chiu-tung (王秋冬) emphasized that the initiative is part of the city’s broader efforts to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in the auto repair industry. “This program not only provides valuable vocational skills but also opens doors to stable employment and strong income prospects,” Wang said.

Graduates of the program may expect starting monthly wages ranging from NT$60,000 to NT$100,000, depending on their roles and experience. For those interested in entrepreneurship, monthly earnings can surpass NT$100,000.

Enrollment is currently open and will continue through September 21. More information, including application procedures, is available on the official website of the Taipei City Vocational Development Institute.
