Taipei Stock Exchange Closes Lower by 190 Points; Mixed Results for Futures Markets

Taipei (September 19, 2025) The Taipei Stock Exchange ended trading today with a sharp decline, dropping 190.99 points to finish at 25,578.37, as futures in the electronics and financial sectors showed mixed movement.

For October contracts, electronic futures slipped 6.55 points to settle at 1,494.75, with a contango of 7.26 points compared to the spot market. Trading volume reached 520 contracts. November electronic futures also weakened, losing 3.9 points to close at 1,496.6 on limited activity with just one contract traded.

On the spot side, the electronic index ended at 1,487.49 points, down 15.34 points. This left the October electronic futures 7.26 points above spot prices, maintaining a positive spread.

Meanwhile, financial futures posted slight gains. The October financial futures rose 2.4 points to close at 2,200.4 with 256 contracts traded. However, the contract traded below the financial spot index, which advanced 4.3 points to 2,205.18, resulting in a backwardation of 4.78 points.

Market observers noted that the actual closing figures will still be subject to official confirmation by the futures exchange.
