Taipei Woman Fatally Stabbed by Ex-Boyfriend in Parking Lot Ambush; Over 30 Knife Wounds Found

TAIPEI (July 31, 2025) — A 27-year-old woman working as a nightclub public relations officer was brutally attacked and killed by her former boyfriend in an underground parking lot near the Xinyi Vieshow Cinemas on Tuesday night, according to police reports.

The suspect, a 22-year-old man surnamed Liu, had allegedly been lying in wait for his ex-girlfriend. At around 8 p.m., upon spotting her, he launched a violent assault using a spring-loaded knife, stabbing her repeatedly. The victim suffered severe neck wounds, including a deep slash to the throat. Emergency responders rushed her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police arrested Liu in the early hours of the following day. On Wednesday afternoon, investigators, along with the victim’s family, conducted a formal examination of the woman’s remains at Taipei Medical University Hospital.

Forensic findings revealed that the victim sustained more than 30 stab wounds across multiple areas of her body, including the front and back of the neck, chest, abdomen, back, thighs, and collarbone. Authorities described the attack as extremely vicious, with the suspect inflicting the injuries in under two minutes.

Although the injuries were extensive, the exact cause of death and the most fatal wound are still under review and will be clarified through a full autopsy.

The victim’s father and younger sister traveled from Kaohsiung to participate in the official identification process. While they remained silent during the procedure, the younger sister expressed her frustration to reporters outside the police station after providing her statement.

“There’s no death penalty in Taiwan for murder. This is just the beginning — it will only get worse,” she said angrily. “Let’s see if the law will truly punish him. There are more people like him out there. Watch and see.”

Authorities continue to investigate the case and have not ruled out the possibility of premeditation. Legal proceedings are expected to follow.
