Taiwan to Boost NT$500 Cloud Receipt Prizes Starting May to Encourage Digital Invoices

TAIPEI, July 1 – Taiwan’s Taxation Administration announced on Tuesday an increase in the number of NT$500 prizes available in the cloud receipt lottery, aiming to promote wider use of digital invoices. Beginning with the May–June draw, each bimonthly lottery will see 700,000 additional NT$500 prizes, bringing the total to 3.15 million for this prize tier.

The move follows the Legislative Yuan’s decision to lift a 30% budget freeze on cloud receipt prize funds. After reassessing its budget allocation, the Taxation Administration confirmed that this increase will continue through the end of 2024.

Revised Prize Distribution

According to the agency, the structure of earlier prize draws (January to April) mirrored those from the September to December 2023 period, which included:

  • 30 prizes of NT$1 million

  • 16,000 prizes of NT$2,000

  • 100,000 prizes of NT$800

  • 2.45 million prizes of NT$500

With the increase, the total number of prizes for each draw will now rise to 3.27 million, up from the previous 2.57 million, significantly boosting the chances for cloud invoice users to win.

Push for E-Invoice Adoption

The Ministry of Finance is encouraging consumers to opt for cloud-based e-invoices whenever possible. Using the e-invoice platform or the official mobile app makes it easier for users to track purchases and automatically enter receipt lotteries.

Officials also recommend setting up a prize redemption account, which allows any winnings to be deposited directly, reducing the risk of missed prizes and enabling a completely paperless process—from invoice issuance to storage, donation, and reward collection.

This effort is part of a broader campaign to modernize Taiwan’s fiscal infrastructure, enhance environmental sustainability, and incentivize digital transformation in everyday consumer behavior.
