Water Supply Disruptions to Affect Nearly 5,000 Households in Kaohsiung on July 7 — Taiwan Water Corporation Urges Residents to Prepare
Kaohsiung City, Taiwan — July 3, 2025 — Taiwan Water Corporation (TWC) announced today that several districts in Kaohsiung City will face temporary water supply disruptions on Sunday, July 7, due to mandatory inspections related to power system maintenance.
According to the company’s press release, the inspection is being conducted in compliance with the Management Rules for Electricity Use Sites and Full-time Electrical Technicians, which require annual checks of electrical systems. During this period, water supply in some areas will be affected starting from 8:00 a.m.
The affected areas include:
-
Xiaogang District (Longfengli and Fengmingli) and Qianzhen District (Zhenbeili, including Qianzhen Science and Technology Industrial Park) — A total of 2,700 households will experience reduced water pressure for 9 hours, starting at 8:00 a.m.
-
Dafa, Linyuan, Linhai Industrial Park, and the Dafa Base in Hefa Industrial Park — Around 2,200 households will face a complete water outage for 11 hours, also beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Xu Zhihong, Deputy Director of TWC’s Seventh District Management Office, told the Central News Agency that while 4,900 households will be directly affected, the rest of Kaohsiung City will continue to receive a normal water supply. However, areas located at higher elevations or at the end of water pipelines may experience delays in the restoration of service.
TWC strongly advises affected residents and business owners to store enough water at least 6 hours before the planned outage. Additionally, the corporation recommends turning off the power supply to water pumps during the disruption. For buildings with tap water inlets below ground level, the main meter valve should be closed to prevent possible siphon contamination. Once service resumes, all water valves should be gradually reopened to release trapped air and allow for a quicker restoration of normal flow.
For updates and further information, residents are encouraged to monitor official announcements from Taiwan Water Corporation or contact their local district office.
