MANILA – August 12, 2025 – Sunwest, Inc., ranked eighth among the 15 contractors with the most flood control projects in the country, has been linked to Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co. Meanwhile, Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation, in ninth place, is reportedly connected to the lawmaker’s brother, Christopher Co.
The list, released by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., highlights firms undertaking multiple flood control initiatives nationwide. The President clarified that his announcement does not imply accusations against any public official regarding alleged irregularities in the projects.
“If there is evidence of corruption, of embezzlement, or any kind of wrongdoing, that’s when we will move,” Marcos said during a press briefing on Tuesday, August 11.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) identified the other top contractors as Legacy Construction Corporation, Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp., St. Timothy Construction Corporation, QM Builders, EGB Construction Corporation, Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc., Centerways Construction and Development Inc., Triple 8 Construction & Supply Inc., Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp., Wawao Builders, MG Samidan Construction, L.R. Tiqui Builders Inc., and Road Edge Trading & Development Services.
