Tragic Details Emerge in Panda Hotel Family Deaths: Former Officer, Family Found Dead Amid Personal Struggles

TSUEN WAN, HONG KONG — Authorities have released further details about the horrifying incident at Panda Hotel that left four members of a family dead in what is now suspected to be a murder-suicide linked to personal and mental health struggles.

The deceased man, 37, who reportedly fell from the upper floors of the hotel, was a former member of the disciplined services. According to investigators, he had recently resigned from his post and was preparing to immigrate overseas with his wife and two young children in August. He had been renting a suite at the Panda Hotel since May.

Preliminary findings suggest the man had been dealing with depression, reportedly intensified by concerns over a foot condition affecting his young son. In a social media post around 4:00 AM on July 27, he expressed suicidal thoughts. Friends who saw the post immediately contacted authorities.

When police responded to the scene at 3 Tsuen Wah Street, they discovered the man critically injured on the street opposite the hotel. He was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Officers proceeded to the 18th-floor hotel room, which was found locked. Upon entry, they discovered the man’s 36-year-old wife and their two sons, aged six and three, unconscious. All three were declared dead at 5:27 AM despite resuscitation attempts.

Forensic evidence from the scene revealed disturbing details: blood-stained curtains and outer walls, an open and tampered window suspected to be the point of the man’s fall, and an alcohol bottle on a table inside the room.

While investigations continue, authorities are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide, driven by overwhelming personal and mental health issues. Public reaction has been one of shock and sorrow, with mental health advocates calling for increased support services to prevent similar tragedies.
