MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has expressed appreciation for the sustained public trust in Vice President Sara Duterte, whose trust rating held steady at 61 percent in the latest survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) in June 2025.
According to the survey results, Duterte not only maintained her rating but also remains the highest-ranked national official in terms of public trust. Her score rose by a marginal one percentage point compared to the previous survey, reinforcing her strong support base.
“Getting a high rating of above 50 percent will make anyone happy,” said OVP spokesperson Ruth Castelo during a press briefing on Wednesday. “The vice president welcomes this survey and she intends to continue to work harder so we can increase that confidence rating.”
When asked about the factors contributing to the unchanged figures, Castelo pointed out that several of the OVP’s initiatives may not have been fully communicated to the public. “Many of the OVP’s programs have not been highlighted or brought down to the public for them to know,” she noted.
Castelo, who was recently appointed as the official spokesperson for the OVP, emphasized her commitment to focusing on the accomplishments of the office. She replaced Atty. Michael Poa, who stepped down around seven months ago.
“My role is to shine a light on what the OVP has achieved. We’re focused on programs and services, not politics,” Castelo said.
The June 2025 SWS survey also revealed that four in ten Filipinos are against the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Duterte, indicating that a significant portion of the population continues to support her leadership.
As the country navigates a complex political landscape, the vice president’s consistent trust rating underscores the importance of visibility and public engagement in sustaining confidence in national leadership.
