MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte revealed that she received her father’s blessing to run in the 2028 national elections.
According to the vice president, this topic was part of her conversation with former President Rodrigo Duterte during her recent visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands, where her father is currently being held.
While she did not specify which position she intends to seek in 2028, Duterte hinted at her father’s full support, saying the former president would be the first to offer assistance and contribute to her campaign if she decides to pursue public office again.
This development has sparked speculation about the political plans of the younger Duterte, who has consistently ranked high in national surveys and remains a prominent figure in Philippine politics.
