Philippines Resumes Poultry Imports from Netherlands as Bird Flu Ban is Lifted

Manila, Philippines – July 8, 2025 — The Department of Agriculture (DA) has officially reopened the importation of poultry products from the Netherlands following confirmation that the European country is now free from bird flu.

In a newly issued Memorandum Circular, the DA lifted the temporary ban previously imposed on the import of domestic and wild birds, including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs, and poultry semen from the Netherlands.

The decision comes after the Dutch government declared the containment of avian influenza outbreaks initially reported on May 16. The DA’s move aligns with international trade protocols that allow the resumption of imports once a country is declared disease-free by relevant health authorities.

The agency assured the public that all imported poultry products would still undergo strict inspection and quarantine procedures to ensure food safety and protect the local poultry industry from possible disease threats.

The lifting of the import ban is expected to help stabilize poultry supply and pricing in the Philippine market, especially amid rising demand and supply challenges.
