China Adds Eight Taiwanese Firms to Export Control List to Safeguard National Security

BEIJING, July 9 – China’s Ministry of Commerce has announced the addition of eight Taiwanese companies to its export control list, citing national security concerns and its commitment to international non-proliferation obligations.

The statement, released via the ministry’s official website on Tuesday, said the decision was made in accordance with the Export Control Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Regulations on Export Control of Dual-Use Items.

Effective immediately, the new directive halts all exports of dual-use items — goods or technologies that can be used for both civilian and military purposes — to the listed entities. Ongoing transactions must also be suspended without delay.

The ministry further stated that any exceptions to the export restrictions will require special approval. Exporters seeking to continue business with the affected companies under exceptional circumstances must submit a formal application for review.

The eight Taiwanese firms now subject to the restrictions include:

  • Hanxiang Aviation Industry

  • Jingwei Aerospace Technology

  • Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology

  • Zhongshuo Technology

  • International Shipbuilding

  • CITIC Shipbuilding

  • Longde Shipbuilding Industry

  • Gongwei Co., Ltd.

This move comes amid rising cross-strait tensions and reflects Beijing’s tightened control over sensitive exports, especially in sectors related to defense and strategic technologies.
