MANILA, Philippines — July 9, 2025 — A heartwarming milestone was celebrated today at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as the OFW Lounge officially welcomed its 1,000,000th visitor — a testament to its vital role as a haven for Filipino migrant workers.
The special recognition ceremony was held at Terminal 3, led by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator PY Caunan, who personally honored the lucky 1,000,000th guest. As part of the celebration, OWWA distributed free merchandise to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) present at the lounge, expressing gratitude for their continued patronage.
“Ang OFW Lounge ay itinayo upang maging tahanan sa paliparan — isang lugar kung saan makapapahinga at makapaghanda ang ating mga bagong bayani bago sila lumipad sa panibagong yugto ng kanilang buhay,” said Administrator Caunan during the event.
Launched to provide comfort, convenience, and essential services, the OFW Lounge has become a reliable sanctuary for thousands of OFWs every month at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3. Its consistent use by Filipino migrant workers reflects the trust and appreciation they have for government-led initiatives aimed at enhancing their welfare.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and OWWA reaffirmed their commitment to continue improving services for OFWs, both in the Philippines and abroad.
“Maraming salamat, Kabayan!” the OWWA statement concluded. “Patuloy po kaming magsisilbi at magmamalasakit para sa inyong kapakanan.”
As the number of visitors continues to grow, the OFW Lounge stands as a symbol of the nation’s enduring support and respect for its modern-day heroes.
