Innolux Corporation: Subsidiary CarUX Acquires Japan’s Pioneer Corporation for NT$33.7 Billion

July 5, 2025 – TaipeiInnolux Corporation (3481) has announced a major international acquisition through its subsidiary, CarUX Holding Limited, in a move that significantly strengthens its presence in the smart vehicle solutions market.

On June 26, Innolux Chairman Hong Jinyang revealed that CarUX has signed a formal agreement with global investment firm EQT to acquire 100% of the shares of Pioneer Corporation, a well-established Japanese electronics company, for an equity value of 163.6 billion yen (approximately NT$33.7 billion).

Pioneer, widely known for its advanced expertise in automotive electronics, specializes in car audio systems, multimedia platforms, and human-machine interface (HMI) software development. The company has long-standing partnerships with both Japanese and global automotive manufacturers, making it a valuable addition to CarUX’s strategic roadmap.

Strategic Expansion into Smart Cockpit Integration

CarUX, which operates as a Tier 1 supplier of smart cockpit integration solutions, is poised to benefit from Pioneer’s comprehensive technical capabilities and established market network. The acquisition is expected to enhance CarUX’s product offerings and accelerate its global expansion in the automotive electronics sector.

According to Innolux, the deal not only boosts CarUX’s technological foundation but also enhances its competitiveness in the rapidly growing smart mobility and infotainment systems market, where integration of HMI, AI, and digital interfaces is increasingly vital to automakers.

Chairman Hong emphasized the high value-added potential of the acquisition, noting that Pioneer’s innovation-driven approach and trusted relationships with major automakers will complement CarUX’s growth ambitions. The acquisition is seen as a pivotal step in positioning the company at the forefront of the next-generation automotive experience.

Pending regulatory approvals and final closing procedures, CarUX will soon take full ownership of Pioneer, marking one of the most significant cross-border acquisitions in the tech and automotive industries this year.
