TAIWAN, July 10 — Intense rainfall caused by a persistent low-pressure system and strengthening southwest winds has prompted widespread suspensions of work and classes in several counties and cities across Taiwan today. Authorities reported that certain regions have already recorded rainfall levels classified as “extremely heavy,” raising concerns over safety and mobility.
Yunlin County
In Yunlin, Caoling Elementary School in Gukeng Township has suspended both work and classes for the day due to the adverse weather conditions.
Chiayi County
Numerous educational institutions in Chiayi County have also announced class suspensions while keeping staff on duty. Affected schools include:
