DSWD Distributes Over ₱4.1 Million in Aid to Families Affected by Typhoon

July 23, 2025 — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided more than ₱4.1 million worth of humanitarian assistance to families severely affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Crising.

During a press briefing on Saturday, DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao confirmed that initial relief efforts were promptly carried out. These included the distribution of family food packs and essential non-food items to displaced and affected communities.

Based on data from the DSWD and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) as of this morning, over 68,000 families — equivalent to approximately 215,000 individuals — have been affected by the typhoon across several regions: Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Currently, about 5,400 individuals have sought refuge in evacuation centers for safety and shelter.

Assistant Secretary Dumlao emphasized that DSWD field offices and quick response teams remain on full alert and are actively monitoring the situation in typhoon-hit areas. These teams have been deployed to work closely with local government units to ensure immediate and appropriate assistance is delivered to those in need.

She also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuing relief operations and adjusting response strategies as new developments unfold.
