September 9, 2025 | Taichung — A 59-year-old man surnamed Lin suddenly collapsed while resting in the food court of Taichung Railway Station around noon today. Despite immediate emergency response, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to police and fire department reports, Lin was seated in the dining area on the first floor of the station when he unexpectedly lost consciousness at approximately 12:37 p.m. Witnesses dining nearby were alarmed and quickly called for help.
When paramedics arrived, they found Lin unresponsive, with no pulse or breathing. They also noticed bleeding from a previously treated wound on his neck. Lin was rushed to Taichung Hospital but could not be revived.
Authorities initially ruled out foul play, noting no signs of external force or confrontation. Lin’s family has been notified, and the case has been referred to the Taichung District Prosecutor’s Office and a forensic pathologist for autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.
