BREAKING: Romualdez to Step Down as House Speaker

Manila, September 17, 2025 — House Speaker Martin Romualdez is set to vacate his position on Wednesday and has endorsed Deputy Speaker and Isabela 6th District Representative Faustino “Bojie” Dy III as his replacement, according to Antipolo City 1st District Representative Ronaldo Puno.

Romualdez’s decision to step down comes amid mounting allegations of massive corruption that have placed the House leadership under intense public scrutiny. Reports indicate that he met with congressional leaders earlier this week to discuss the transition and avoid further political upheaval.

Dy, a veteran legislator and influential political figure from Isabela, is expected to receive broad backing from lawmakers when the speakership vote takes place. Party leaders have scheduled a caucus to finalize the transition, with Romualdez anticipated to formally announce his resignation during Wednesday’s session.

The leadership shift is seen as an effort to restore credibility and stability in the House of Representatives following weeks of controversy.
