Manila, Philippines —
Authorities arrested an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who had been wanted for over ten years in connection with a theft case, the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup) announced Monday.
The suspect was apprehended at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Sunday night in a joint operation conducted by the PNP-Avsegroup and the Pasay City Police Station. The individual had just arrived in the country on a flight from Istanbul, Turkey.
According to PNP-Avsegroup, the suspect was flagged by immigration officers after an active Alias Warrant of Arrest—issued in 2014—was detected during the screening process.
Authorities immediately coordinated with various law enforcement units, resulting in the swift apprehension of the suspect.
The individual is currently under the custody of the Pasay City Police Station pending documentation and the continuation of legal proceedings related to the long-standing theft case.
“This campaign against wanted individuals is far from over; in fact, it’s gaining momentum,” said PNP-Avsegroup Director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy. “If we can arrest someone who has been at large for over a decade, we can expect more successful operations in the future.”
