Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero has signed subpoenas against officials of eight construction companies that failed to send representatives to the ongoing Senate investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
The subpoenas are set to be delivered on Tuesday, August 26, to compel the attendance of the following firms before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee: Wawao Builders, Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc., Sunwest Inc., St. Timothy Construction Corp., Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp., L.R. Tiqui Builders Inc., Hi-Tone Construction & Development Corp., and Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corp.
The Senate inquiry is aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push to scrutinize questionable transactions linked to multi-billion peso flood control projects. Earlier reports identified 15 construction companies as recipients of a significant portion of the ₱545-billion allocation for government flood control initiatives.
Lawmakers are expected to question the contractors on procurement processes, project implementation, and the alleged anomalies surrounding the distribution of contracts.
