TAOYUAN (September 16, 2025)— A 50-year-old woman surnamed Zhuang ran bleeding into a convenience store in Taoyuan District around 9 p.m. last night after being stabbed in the throat by her boyfriend inside her rental apartment.
According to police, officers from Jingfu Police Station were patrolling Minsheng Road at around 9:15 p.m. when they noticed a store clerk frantically signaling for help. Upon entering, they found Ms. Zhuang sitting on the floor with a deep neck wound, covered in blood. She managed to tell officers, “Blood is dripping from my throat,” before paramedics were called.
Witnesses immediately wrapped her in towels while waiting for medical assistance. “She keeps bleeding, she’s in bad shape,” one resident anxiously said. When paramedics arrived, they noted that she was struggling to breathe. She was rushed to the hospital and remains in the intensive care unit under close observation.
Authorities quickly launched a search for the attacker. They traced the suspect, a 54-year-old man surnamed Lu, to a nearby apartment. He was found unconscious in the bathroom with self-inflicted injuries to his wrist. Emergency responders transported him to the hospital, where he is currently recovering in a general ward.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a heated argument between the couple. Police have filed the necessary domestic violence and suicide reports and are pursuing charges of attempted murder against Lu.
