‘No More Jurisdiction’: Ethics Panel Can’t Probe Zaldy Co After Resignation

‘Ethics Committee Lost Jurisdiction’

House Urges Former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co to Answer Flood Control Project Allegations

MANILA (September 29, 2025) — The House of Representatives has called on former Ako Bicol Party-list representative Zaldy Co to respond to allegations of irregularities linked to several flood control projects.

Co formally resigned from his post on Monday, September 29, 2025, stepping down not only as a congressman but also as the representative of the Ako Bicol Party-list.

With his resignation, the House Ethics Committee has lost jurisdiction to summon him for investigation, since its authority only covers sitting members of Congress.

Nevertheless, lawmakers stressed that the inquiry should not end abruptly and expressed hope that other government agencies will continue probing the issue.
