19-Year-Old Worker Falls From 20th Floor at Taichung Construction Site During Typhoon Bavi

Taichung City, Taiwan – July 10, 2026 — A construction accident occurred at a worksite in Xitun District, Taichung City, on Friday morning as Typhoon Bavi approached Taiwan, leaving a 19-year-old worker seriously injured after falling from a high floor.

According to emergency authorities, police and firefighters received a report about the accident and immediately rushed to the construction site. Initial reports indicated that the worker fell from the 20th floor and landed on a platform located on the 7th floor of the building.

Rescue personnel quickly reached the injured worker and assisted in transporting him to a hospital for medical treatment. The worker remains under emergency care, and his current condition has not yet been released.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fall, including whether weather conditions related to Typhoon Bavi, workplace safety measures, or other factors contributed to the accident.
