Miaoli Jewelry Heist Foiled: Four Suspects Arrested After Gold Theft in Zhunan

Miaoli County, Taiwan – September 15, 2025 — A daring robbery at a jewelry store in Zhunan Township ended with the swift arrest of four suspects after police launched a manhunt across Miaoli County.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday when a man and a teenager posed as customers inside a jewelry shop on Boai Street. Seizing the opportunity, they snatched gold necklaces and jewelry valued at approximately NT$100,000 before fleeing the scene.

Authorities from the Zhunan Police Precinct immediately responded to the report and quickly mobilized patrol units. Their investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a group of four — two adults and two minors — who had initially planned to target a jewelry store in Toufen City. However, when one of the teenagers backed out, the group shifted their plan and executed the crime in Zhunan instead.

According to police, while two suspects carried out the theft inside the store, the other two waited nearby on motorcycles to assist with their escape. Their attempt, however, was short-lived. Officers tracked the group down within hours, arresting them in both Zhunan and Toufen districts after a car pursuit.

The stolen items were recovered, and the four suspects are now facing charges related to theft and organized crime. Police emphasized their commitment to cracking down on such crimes, particularly those involving minors, and urged shop owners to remain vigilant.
