Kaohsiung Man Accused of Secretly Filming Woman in Convenience Store

Kaohsiung, September 18, 2025 — A case of alleged voyeurism at a convenience store in Xinxing District has prompted police investigation after a woman claimed she was secretly filmed by a male customer.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. yesterday at a store on Minsheng 1st Road. According to police, a 46-year-old man surnamed Li reportedly noticed a woman seated inside and decided to use his mobile phone to take pictures of her. Another woman also claimed she was filmed.

When officers from the Zhongzheng 3rd Road Police Station arrived, they inspected Li’s phone but did not find any explicit or private images. Despite this, the woman chose to file a complaint under the Sexual Harassment Prevention Act and the Violation of Privacy Law.

Li repeatedly apologized at the scene, admitting he was wrong, but he was still taken to the station for questioning. Police stated that the case will proceed according to legal procedures and that digital forensics will be conducted on Li’s phone to determine whether any inappropriate images had been deleted or hidden.

Authorities emphasized that protecting the rights of both parties is a priority as the investigation continues. They also reminded the public to respect others’ privacy and to avoid photographing people without permission, as such actions could lead to disputes or legal consequences.
