MECO Launches Expanded Services for Filipinos in Taiwan

📢 NOTICE ON MECO “EXPANDED SERVICES”

Effective 18 September 2025, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) will launch its expanded services to further assist Filipinos in Taiwan with faster and more convenient document processing.

🔎 What is the Document Facilitation Service (DFS)?

The DFS is designed to help Filipinos process essential documents such as:

  • PSA Registry Document

  • Additional Copy of PSA Document

  • NBI Clearance

  • Authentication of Taiwan Diploma

👉 If a Filipino has a family member or an authorized representative in the Philippines who can process these documents on their behalf, the use of DFS is not required.

🔎 What is the notarization service for Waiver of Exclusion Ground (WEG)?

With the expanded services, notarization for WEG application documents has also been streamlined.

  • Taiwanese parents can now directly have the Affidavit of Support and Guaranty notarized at MECO.

  • There is no need to go through a Taiwan notary and BOCA authentication.

  • From the usual three steps, the process is reduced to just one step.

  • MECO will also verify the household registry to ensure a smooth WEG application in the Philippines.

💡 Purpose of the Expanded Services

The Expanded Services aim to:

  • Provide additional guidance and assistance to clients.

  • Simplify and speed up important document processing.

  • Offer Filipinos and their families the option to avail of the new services or continue with the traditional process, depending on their preference.

❗ Note: These services are voluntary and will not be imposed on any application process.
