Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) for Dependents of OFWs
The Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) is a scholarship grant designed for qualified dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). The program provides financial assistance of up to Php 60,000 per school year until the completion of a baccalaureate course (typically 4–5 years).
For incoming college freshmen, selection is based on the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Qualifying Examination. Only the top 400 passers are eligible as freshmen scholars, while 600 slots are reserved for students already enrolled in college.
Who Are Qualified?
Eligible applicants must be a child or sibling of an active OWWA member, and must meet the following criteria:
1. Incoming Senior High School (Grade 12)

Must have at least 80% General Weighted Average (GWA) without failing grades.

Must pass the DOST qualifying examination and rank among the top 400 passers nationwide.
2. Incoming College Freshmen (1st Year)

Must be single and a Grade 11 graduate (or currently enrolled in Grade 12).

Maximum age: 21 years old.

GWA of 80% or higher. If grades are unavailable at application, the GWA from the two preceding school years will be used.

Must belong to the top 400 qualifiers of the DOST national qualifying exam.
3. Current College Students (2nd to 5th Year)

Maximum age: 30 years old.

GWA of at least 85% (B letter grade equivalence) in all subjects from the last full academic year.
Important: Applicants must not be receiving any other OWWA or external scholarship grant.

How to Apply

Visit your OWWA Regional Welfare Office (RWO) covering the permanent address of the OFW.

Take a queue number or line up for EDSP application.

Present the OFW member’s ID and all required documents at the Membership Verification Desk.

Obtain a Notice of Award and schedule for Scholarship Orientation / Evaluation.

Attend the Scholarship Orientation and facilitate Notarization of the Scholarship Agreement.
