Factory Fire in Tainan, Taiwan Extinguished After More Than Two Hours; No Injuries Reported
Tainan City, Taiwan – July 9, 2026 — A factory fire broke out late Thursday morning in the Shanshang District of Tainan City, sending thick black smoke into the sky and prompting a large-scale emergency response from local firefighters.
According to the Tainan City Fire Bureau, the incident was reported at approximately 11:15 a.m. at a manufacturing facility located on Xingwang Road. The factory specializes in producing refractory, thermal insulation, and heat-resistant materials.
Firefighters immediately dispatched a significant number of emergency personnel and equipment to the scene, including 35 fire vehicles, 78 firefighters and volunteer responders, and one civil service personnel member. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and intense flames emerging from the two-story metal-sheet factory building.
To assist in suppressing the blaze, emergency responders also deployed two firefighting robots and one drone to monitor conditions and support firefighting operations.
Authorities confirmed that no workers or civilians were trapped or injured during the incident.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 1:05 p.m. and was completely extinguished by 1:48 p.m. Officials estimated that around 90 square meters of the factory were damaged by the fire.
Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. Authorities have not yet released information regarding the extent of property damage or the financial losses resulting from the incident.
The Tainan City Fire Bureau continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the blaze while assessing the structural condition of the affected facility.
